Securing financial peace of mind

Investing with Tatton through your Financial Adviser is designed to help secure financial peace of mind.

These pages are for private investors looking for more information about Tatton and how to invest through us, following a recommendation from their Financial Adviser.

If you don’t have a Financial Adviser you can find one here: www.unbiased.co.uk although we can’t take responsibility for the service they provide. Please note your Financial Adviser will need to have signed a Firm Agreement with us for us to provide our service.

We work closely with your Financial Adviser to ensure that the delivery and ongoing management of your selected portfolio on your chosen investment platform is undertaken with the same discipline and responsibility as if it were our own money.

Why use Tatton?

Tatton is an investment manager that is best known for its discretionary fund management services. This means we are appointed by private investors, through their Financial Advisers, to manage their investments on their behalf. As a discretionary fund manager our investment team make the decisions on where and in what funds your portfolio will hold. However, as with all investments their value can fluctuate and you may get back less than the amount invested.

Most people think this type of service is only for the very well off, but it isn’t. We set up Tatton to make discretionary fund management accessible and cost effective for most investors – not just the rich.

The way we work and the fees we charge set a new marker for discretionary fund management in the UK. We are very proud to have been voted the Best DFM in the UK in the Moneyfacts Investment Life & Pensions awards for four consecutive years confirming that we are the most successful investment manager of our kind.

Why do Financial Advisers recommend us?

We believe passionately in the benefit of financial advice. We are investment managers, and our job is to ensure that we manage your chosen service to help meet the objectives you have set with your Financial Adviser. That’s why you can only invest with Tatton through a Financial Adviser.

Trust is of vital importance with financial planning and you can trust us, in partnership with your Financial Adviser, manage your chosen service according to the plan you have created with them. We can’t and won’t provide financial advice or planning so we won’t try and sell you other products or undermine your relationship with your Financial Adviser.

This has a number of benefits for you. We can manage our service in the knowledge that the decisions we make are the appropriate ones for your investment goals, your attitude to investment risk and, if required, your tax position.

It also means that the costs you pay are lower than other managers charge for a similar service. Because we use investment platforms to ‘hold’ the money we don’t have a costly administration back office to support, which is better for you and means you shouldn’t have to change how you work with your Financial Adviser if they recommend you use Tatton.

What is Investment Excellence?

We understand no two clients are alike. Some want ethical investments; others want to drive down costs; others focus on reducing inheritance tax liability*. We offer additional portfolios to meet these needs, many of which use the same easy-to-understand risk rating system as our portfolios.

*The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate taxation advice

Our goal is Investment Excellence, which we believe has three elements

Generating returns

Generating returns through a robust investment system with the flexibility to seek out the most attractive investment opportunities.

Managing risk

Managing risk by offering funds with risk ratings that are easy to understand, such as “defensive” and “aggressive”.

Competitive fees

The cost of investing is particularly important in today’s environment of low interest rates, where fees cut into more modest investment returns and have a magnified long-term impact due to compounding effects.
